Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell (born in New York City) is an American television reporter, commentator and anchor of NBC News based at Washington D.C. Mitchell holds a bachelor's degree in English language and culture from University of Pennsylvania. In the year 1967, Mitchell began her career as a reporter with KYW Radio and TV in Philadelphia. In 1976, Mitchell joined WDVM-TV Washington DC, a CBS-affiliated station (then WTOP). In Washington, she was appointed general reporter by NBC News two year later. 1980 began her coverage of the White House. 1988 became the chief congressional journalist. Mitchell was appointed the Chief White House correspondent in 1992. As well as the chief foreign affairs Correspondent for NBC News. Mitchell was host and panelists on the TV program Meet the Press. She was on the panel in 1988's presidential debates which pitted George Bush against Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married to Alan Greenspan a former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell has been awarded numerous times for her journalism achievements, such as an award called the Goldsmith Career Award from John F. Kennedy School of Government in 2005. She was also honored by the Leonard Zeidenberg Award presented by the Radio-Television News Directors Association in 2004. Mitchell's first White House coverage was for NBC News, between 1981-1988. The time span covered both Ronald Reagan terms in office. She covered many notable issues, such as the arms control, budget taxes and the Iran Contra scandal. She also traveled to many summits with the help of the President Reagan with Mikhail Gorbachev.
